The Korean American National Museum is an institution that aims to preserve and interpret the history, experiences, culture, and achievements of Korean Americans. It is a cultural hub for the community to gather and tell their stories. The Korean American experience cannot be defined by one experience, but it is a spectrum of different people and their lives.

The Silent Hyphen is an exhibition that alludes to the space in between the words “Korean” and “American” that can feel both like a border and a bridge. The exhibition fills in the gaps of historical knowledge through stories of the lives of Korean Americans.

The exhibition includes an installation that allows visitors to walk through a generational timeline of Korean American immigrants. They are able to read and connect with the people on display, and also become a part of the timeline by telling their own stories through the website.
