Although hip hop is so widely popular and has affected every single one of our lives, not many people know the history behind it. Cyphers is a book, installation, and app that covers the history and current events to educate users on hip hop culture.

Taking the Book to the Streets
Hip hop was born on the streets of The Bronx in New York. Large poster installations that represent important figures in hip hop are placed in locations that are meaningful to the artists displayed. This gives the users an opportunity to be in the same physical space that legendary hip hop artists perfected their craft in.
In the App
Scavenger Hunt
The installation posters are scanned by the Scavenger Hunt section of the app to inform users of the artist’s information as well as their works.
